Finding a level of acceptance for recieving feedback, depends on ones open mindedness & sensitivity to critique. Yet it can, in most cases, be the guiding road to success.
Here's a link to a chap on youtube who I think gives great advice on this subject. He also has some song writing advice (click over on the right on 'more from Expert Village). Take a look and see if you can derive any benefit:

Grin Top good advice.I think that all you young artists should take this to heart.And if someone says you suck do not just take it to heart ask yourself why do I suck? Once to now why you suck then you can take steps to fix it!

Just gotta say one of my fave quotes:  "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger".  I have no idea who said this, but I think it's somewhere along the lines of what ant was saying...
