Hello to everyone
as first, please, forgive me for my poor english. I'm Italian from Tuscany.
I started to play the guitar when 14 years old, today I'm 49 and it was more than 10 years that I stopped to play guitar. Some weeks ago I met on the net the JamStudio and...WOW!!!!!!! I got enchanted and addicted. I immediately took my old book of songs (my personal songs) and started to create musical arrangments (it was my dream when young). I'm not a musician so I don't know pentagrams, I only know the name of musical notes. JS immediately conquered me why? 1) everyone can create music 2) it is the only software I met where you have several real instruments (Band in a box only have the Epiano "simulating" other instruments, Garage Band is so complicate that is dedicated only to professional musicians)
So, I wish to THANK who create JS, you are MARVELLOUS !!!
Now, due of I consider JS, potentially, the best musical software never created for eveyone, I would like to send some requests to programmers. I know that to create a software is an hard work but ...BOYS you showed us the top of an huge cake and now we wish the rest.
Here are my suggestions:
- a smooth of volumen at the start and at the end of the composition (always songs start as a "sudden music" at the very first note) - some more instruments (trumpets, horns, flutes, archs, saxs, clarinets etc etc) - more than "only" 8 usable instruments all together - a special bar having only musical "styles" (rock, latin, ethnic, country, blues, jazz etc etc) - the possibility to give different rytms to different pages (as a sample, with your software it is not possible to change the ritm from single to double in the same composition). - give us pleeeasssseeee more than only 5 pages for our music (I have understood the tutorial to create longer compositions on Karaoke but it is really laborious and not really intuitive)
Now something more complex: the system is based on 4 x 4 squares (total 16 squares). Who composes music is obliged in giving the same rythm to 16 notes. The "musician" is also obliged in using the same instruments for 16 notes. Basically it is impossible to create a silence pause or a "solo" passage, or a "call and answer" between 2 instruments in 2 notes (you can change instruments only each 16 squares). So, it would be very nice to have the opportunity to attribute a rythm (1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4) separately to each square (1 square=1 musical note).
Again "squares": If I put no music on the first square of the first page I have no problems, the system read the first square using the drums (if you have used drums). But if you do the same also on the 2nd square the system jump the full page ...why? I mean: - you can have: empty square + note + note + note (instruments must be at least 1 drum + guitar or other instruments) In this case the system read the music and you may have a short "drum introduction" to your music - you cannot have: empty square + empty square + note + note. In this case the system doesn't work and jump directly to the 2nd page. Why?
Furthermore, today I have had a problem in dowloading my MP3. I don't understand the reason but, I composed a music 40 seconds long and haveing 2 pages. When receiving my file by e-mail I was having a musing long only 24 seconds and having only the page n°1. Why? (I really don't understand, I downloaded from JS other personal compositions being longer and I had not such a problem)
I'm sure that JS software, if further developed, will conquer the world market of music hobbists. Actually it is "only" an on-line software but I'm sure people would be disposal in downloading a richest and more complex software (paying for it) to have it resident in his own computer.
