I don't know if i could take a song from the 1960's and re do it to a modern or futuristic version with out getting into trouble but I have.
I am not going to post it until I find out , but , I needed 1 more page to do just "1 more chord" to end it...JUST 1 chord! BUMMER !! Huh  Roll Eyes
I know this is a new sight and they are still working out kinks and small bugs , and I really enjoy it....but just 1 more page !! lol !!!
I have audacity but am still trying to learn the useage of it....Not all my menu items are letting me use them...such as fade in or out. That is why my things end so sharpley.
I am working on them. I didn't mention the name of the song on purpose for personal reasons , please understand.
However,I will say that it was a major hit in the early to mid 60's . I know this sight is mainly for new and original music , but just try some of the older well known songs too !!
Even if legally you can't post them , just keep them for yourself. Think of it as a bunch of friends sitting around in the living room jamming and having a good time !!
I can imagine this sight was made to post original music from new artist , but where did we get our inspirations from??
Hey jumper , Lauren , any insight would be welcomed. I know you don't want this sight to start thrashing out the "oldies" , but where did your inspirations come from???
It's just a thought...( and a love for music ). Any feedback would be openly accepted.
Your friend in sound , Geno

P.S. Still having troubles sending mp3's,and e-mail's....but patients is a virtue.
                Rock on !!

It is my understanding that most of what's copywritten is the words to a song, rather than just the music.  For instance, check out Queen's "Under Pressure" and Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby".  They use the same bass riff.  That's not illegal.  How can you copyright a musical note or progression?  I can't go around saying I copyright G C D C and every time you use that you have to pay me royalties.  That's ridiculous.  Instead, the words are what you can't use.  Words are intellectual property.  Only so many chords sound good together (well, generally speaking anyway).  Make sense?

It is this logic that allows JamStudio.com to work.  All of you could use the same chord progression, the same instrumentation, at the same tempo, but write different melodies and lyrics, and you'd be OK.

...at least, that's how I understand the laws...

Oh right.  I forgot to address your primary question.  Currently we just have the 5 pages.  That will change eventually, as we are able to develop the site more.  In good time.  In good time.

And about the mp3 problems: http://www.jamstudioforum.com/index.php/topic,413.0.html

Thank you Jumper for your reply. That does make sense and I understand. I also thought the same thing.
I just thought I remembered some kind of law suit which involved George Harrison and another artist ,I don't remember who it was ,in which one or the other had similar lyrics...
My sweet Lord I think the song was...It was written by G.Harrison.
The reason I was asking was I didn't want to get myself, ( or JS ) , into any trouble . I know that we aren't making money off of our songs , I just didn't want to break any laws and get any of us into any hassel . I know you can understand the caution...( all respect was intended ).
Again I respectably thank you for your reply and I want to thank not only you , but
Mrs. Lauren and Dave for the hard work and awsome efforts you have put in on this sight and your attention to the slight problems that WE ALL have recently had with the e-mails and so forth .
We all are aware that this is a new sight and there are gliches that will arise , but with the leadership of the Jam Studio Staff and the faith , patients and support of it's members,
we WILL ALL be apart of the most awsome music sight on the web...or WORLD !!
One last thing...the musicians that give us our effects deserve ALOT of thanks too !
With all respect to each of you , the JS staff , and also to each member and guest that share so much of your inner selfs , and your love for music .
My best to ALL , Your friend in sound , Geno. Wink
