Hi Everyone

This is my first post..

Chris here... Great to be here...

As I am new here I appreciate your help and this forum...

Using Jamrecorder I imported my jamstudio mp3 with no problems(all good there) But...

When I recorded my Voice in jamrecorder whilst listening with earphones to my mp3 jamstudio imported song. After
recording my voice over my mp3 imported song I found the timing of my singing voice
was way off & out of sync with my jamstudio mp3 song(& my singing timing is normally excellent so the
problem is not on my end)... Huh

Appreciate your speedy help  Smiley...

Grin It sounds like you have a latency or timing problem. You need to use a USB port Mic that may fix your problem. There are a few things that can cause you problems. What kinda OPS are you running?

Hi Chrisa. Oddly I didnt' have that problem when I used JamREcorder with the JamStudio mp3s. But I only had JamRecorder for a month. I use sony acid music studio, and have the latency, or lag, problem. good thing is that I can just slide the one track to match when I need to. Latency problem solved. Many people use the free program Audacity. Others use mixcraft.

Hi Ant & wyotryot

Really Appreciate both your replies...

Ant I already tried using a port microphone ie I have earphones with a mouth mic that
plugs into usb port but had same problem...

Ant My OPS is Winows XP...

What else could the answer be?...

wyotryot re using other programs like audacity i would rather just use jamrecorder if possible
as there must be a way to fix problem...

What else could the answer be wyotryot ?

Appreciate your speedy replies & all other input welcome...

Chris, there are so many things between the sound and the listening and each of those things has to be in sync.
How old is your computer?
What operating system? Windows xp What is the memory capacity, processor speed, etc.?
It sounds like you are going to need to do a little research, on your system, and you should research latency, and what contributes to it.
What quality is that headset mic? And I'll say this, that headset mic is made for talking, not singing. If you are serious about this, making songs, and not just wanting to satisfy some inner rock god craving, get yourself some quality gear. For a few hundred buck you can have a decent mic and headphones. A grand will get you a rockin' pc.
An old computer, a cheap mic, basic programs (cause let's face it, JamRecorder, while handy, is pretty basic) don't go very far in a serious world.
I'm still learning all this stuff too.
the free program, Audacity, is a good one, but you'll have a learning curve on it. don't expect greatness on the first take.
What you could do is load your jamstudio track as mp3 into Audacity.
Separately record your vocal on JamRecorder (with your track of course).
Delete the instrument track. Send JamRecorder mp3 of your voice to yourself, then load into Audacity. Line them up!
That should work.
Good luck, Chris.
We're pulling for you!!!!!!!!!!!1 Grin Grin Grin

Grin you are running windows XP so your OPS should be OK. Jamrecorder is a zero latency recorder so I don't think the problem is with the recorder.I think your problem is going to be with the time line or the Mic.Does your Mic have a pre-amp or Phantom power?  Do you understand what I mean by [ time line ]. That means that you music and your vocals must start at the same time.If not you will be out of sink.Try to adjust the vocals on the time line one way or another and see if that helps.

Hi all,

One thing to rember is latency (lag) can be the sound card driver issue. I had the same problem. then I found a free driver called ASIO4ALL which solved my problem with latency. This driver works with almost any sound card. The driver can be found here. http://www.asio4all.com/ If you are not somewhat of a computer tech, you may have to do all the reading at that site to learn how to set it up properly. I have never used JamRecorder, so I dont know if it has an option setting that allows you to change the driver... Ant???
