Chris, there are so many things between the sound and the listening and each of those things has to be in sync.
How old is your computer?
What operating system?
Windows xp What is the memory capacity, processor speed, etc.?
It sounds like you are going to need to do a little research, on your system, and you should research latency, and what contributes to it.
What quality is that headset mic? And I'll say this, that headset mic is made for talking, not singing. If you are serious about this, making songs, and not just wanting to satisfy some inner rock god craving, get yourself some quality gear. For a few hundred buck you can have a decent mic and headphones. A grand will get you a rockin' pc.
An old computer, a cheap mic, basic programs (cause let's face it, JamRecorder, while handy, is pretty basic) don't go very far in a serious world.
I'm still learning all this stuff too.
the free program, Audacity, is a good one, but you'll have a learning curve on it. don't expect greatness on the first take.
What you could do is load your jamstudio track as mp3 into Audacity.
Separately record your vocal on JamRecorder (with your track of course).
Delete the instrument track. Send JamRecorder mp3 of your voice to yourself, then load into Audacity. Line them up!
That should work.
Good luck, Chris.
We're pulling for you!!!!!!!!!!!1
