when you buy into jamstudio you get JamRecorder for a 30 day trial (well, I did anyways; I can't say they still have that deal - look on the website). To get the mp3 sent to your inbox you have to buy jamstudio, so yeah, that's pretty well what you have to do.
Once you have the rights to the songs you make (buy jamstudio to get that, otherwise jamstudio holds all the rights), and send yourself the mp3, you load that into your music production program (audacity and mixcraft 4 are a couple of free ones - warning: steep learning curve if you know nothing about this stuff). I use those two and sony acid music studio. There are many others. Then you play with it until you get it to sound as you want.
