Well, with the many songs I've made on Jamstudio, I've noticed that finding out what kind of song you want it to be is the hardest part. Sometimes it gives me a headache >.< The most intricate part is beginning the song (in my opinion) because I never really know how to start it.  I usually put random chords to see if the instruments work well together and mess with the chord positioning later. I just wanted to know how other people start out their songs. Like do you start out with chords, or instruments? What do you do?

Read my guide if ya want.  Grin

If it does not tell you.. Well, In Jamstudio I look for a lead instrument that might make a good song. Then I combine and twist it around till it sounds really cool. I leave the chords for later too.

I pretty much start the same way, except I first decide whether it'll be a guitar song, a techno piece, a piano ballad, etc. It's probably my favorite part of the song crafting process, though, besides the ending.
