I hope some of you can take advantage of the 10% off, it's an awesome deal. Go to ants page and scroll down to the tutorial video, it gives you a glimpse of what it can do..I'm messing around with the virtual instruments and it's really sweet.

no denying it, I love the interface and the large amount/variety of sounds - but now I have a tune I can't process or finish on mixcraft because it continually crashes my laptop. turned off all unnecessaries, but still happening. downloaded all the fixes, but it's still happening. I have to go to music studio now to get it done, and it won't be the same because it's not the same instruments@! Pardon me, but I'm just greatpersoning.

Sometimes if you add new software it can cause Mixcraft~5 to crash.I have been having trouble myself and have lost 4 good songs. But I found out that a new program that I installed caused the problems. The way that I found it was to start uninstalling stuff until it works again.

That's not what happened for me. The newest program I installed was Mixcraft5. I've been working on The Will, for DaveH and Legend, using mixcraft, and it started getting all jittery. Then that stopped. Now, when I try to render, my laptop shuts off before it reaches 100%. And now, even worse, Sony Music Studio is doing it too. I've gone into preferences on both programs, reset the buffers - ah bah humbug! I am not a happy camper. Please understand I am not blaming this on Mixcraft, just wish I could find the problem and get back to songmaking. hrm.

What i've experianced is the more tracks i add to a song it tries to crash sometimes. I figure it's my computer not the program, i'm just lazy and haven't taken the time to delete junk. Sometimes i'll take a project and when it starts messing up i'll make a mp3 of it and create a new project with it. As long as you have the tune the way you want it to that point it works pretty good

let me add my 50 cents worth guys lol. I dont have mix craft and im not a computer technician, i am only here to try and help and give suggestions.
Most PC crashes are caused by lack of resource mostly being Physical (RAM) memory. The symptoms would be latency causing very sluggish loading or beyond the standard loading time, this is an indication that RAM is in shortage. as you may well know. How every this may not be the cause for the crashes.
Alternatively compatibility which require other data or hardware.
Most likely but may not be in your case is a file called Dumprep.exe is the culprit here. once dumprep comes into play it shoots the processor to 100% thus leaving the pc completely useless. until you shut down the program causing the problem.
anyway this may not be the prob but ill post some info which may help to identify the prob.
The file name dumprep is actually a Trojan created for window to be of benefit, instead its more annoying lol. before disabling it next time you crash use (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) to see if dumprep is present most likely you would have 2 or 3 of them running at the same time, if this is the case you can disable it from the following below. If not then i would be thinking its a compatibility issues, check for updated drivers.
only use the below method if you've identified its dumprep
If you’ve ever had to use the task manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) to kill a “Not Responding” program, you’ve probably been frustrated by the time it takes for the program to actually disappear from your screen. What’s going on here is that a Microsoft provided tool called “Windows Error Dump Reporting,” or “dumprep.exe,” is creating a file containing information about the error that can later be sent back to Microsoft, where it will be summarily ignored along with millions of other error reports. You can safely disable this largely useless feature (and thus speed up your computer in crash-situations) by taking the following steps. How to disable dumprep.exe: Right click on “My Computer,” choose “Properties” from that menu. Click on “Advanced tab,” Click the “Error Reporting” button. Check the “Disable error reporting” box. You may choose to uncheck the the box below it, “But notify me when an error occurs,” if desired. Voila, the annoying dumprep.exe tool is now disabled!

I understand what you are saying Omega but I think knowing more about the DAW can also help a lot.Mixcraft~5 was built to run off of XP2000,Vista,windows7.I don't have that problem because I'm running a 64 bit 3 processor 6 gig system. If you have a lot of tracks loaded the CPU usage can be high.try to freeze some of your track to cut down on the CPU usage.Make sure that Mixcraft is running in the right capacity mode. And use a program that will shut down all unnecessary running programs. And don't run your anti virus at the same time.

I should have mentioned ant that i had noticed if i freeze or mute the tracks not needed when i'm working it does help and i'm ALWAYS forgetting to disable the darn anti virus Most of mine is my PC being old so i'm constantly deleting un needed files to keep my speed up to a usable state My hope is that me yelling constantly and hitting my desk hard enough that maybe my wife will feel sorry for me and let me get a new pc........Yea I know

hey Om, thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into that. Ant, I'm putting it down mostly to 4-year-old laptop running an AMD processor, that gets about 10 hours/day of use, with a lot of stuff aaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll over the place. I got my eyes on a brand-new HP with an i5 processor and 6gb of memory. Oops, I better be careful I'm starting to drool. Joe, I might not tell my wife about it; that could be the safest way I think I scared the neighbours the last time it crashed

hehehe im in the same boat wyo pc is old now but im gonna have to struggle with it. Some of the video software i use just crashes completely due to lack of resources lol.
So i create a 5 min video then save it then restart pc then start the next 5min segment lmao. I dont know which is more expensive the hours of restarts which cost time or the purchasing of a new pc lol.
