My name is Phil Chen.  I wrote a novel called Falling Star about mysterious objects buried deep in theoceans that come to life and start sending signals to outer space.  The story is about what happens when they do.

I posted my book trailer in Introductions and the guys over there suggested that I post it here as well to get more attention and suggestions on how to improve the sound and video.

I am not a musician, I need to make that clear from the offset (probably obvious from the music in the video).  Also, I am not in a position to pay for professional assistance, especially since losing the bulk of my retirement.  I am open to suggestions and where I can I will make changes.

My first video

My revision after receiving inputs from JamStudio members:

I am not sure how to post the track I received from JamStudio after composing the music.

Thank you,

Phil

Check the original thread posts, Phil, for my reply.
Short version:
Post the JamStudio link, not the youtube or mp3.
That way people can play with it in JamStudio itself, making it even easier for you to finagle it.

here's my take, Phil. It's at a different tempo and shorter (about 2:08). I worked to keep the same idea (but not as busy), along with the build and suspense. Changed quite a bit from your version, Phil, but true nonetheless. I think this is a better length for the video. As I said in an earlier post, some of the changes between words in your video took waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay tooooooooooooooo loooooooooooooooooooong. The somewhat open space at about 55sec is where "KILL ME" would go. Let me know what you think.

You guys are great.  I really appreciate the three mixes and all are much much better than what I came up with originally.

A couple of questions.

With respect to the mixes is attribution to your real name sufficient for me to use your mix?  Do you have a website I can point to.

With respect to Omega's visuals, are they all available as open source and could I use them under a creative commons license?  I am very concerned about copyright issues.

Could I get them without the text.  The text font is too oriental and too dark.  I notice that you dropped off the reviews and the info on the book itself, was that too much information?

As I said I like all three mixes, a lot, but the ones that grab me the most are Omega's visuals and Wyotryot's mix.  Can I combine them?

The story line is:

1967: Mysterious objects are found buried deep in the ocean.

1993: These objects start sending signals to outer space.

1993: Mike, the principal character is pulled from a cushy job on Wall Street back into a super secret agency so that he could assist in deciphering the signals.

1993: Mike (and his colleagues in the agency) are attacked by gangs of ordinary Americans bent on killing him

1993: Mike hears that a revered friend has died.  Will the death of Mike's friend mean that the truth about the mysterious objects remain uncovered forever?

That's the nut of the story.

Thank you Dave, Omega, and Wyotryot.  All three of you are great and I appreciate the time.

All the clips in the video are part of a software package (Video Explosion Deluxe) by Nova development that i own. So i would be thinking no issues there, although you might know otherwise??.

Also the music and sound effects are part of the same software ware, hope this clears things up for ya Phillp.

Now as far a the Video is concerned Phil it was meant as an example of how to add strength and power via sound effects and mixing of clips in combination with text and coloring.

The text where inserted into the clips so yes you can get the clips clean, and the font was just the first i had chosen and the darkness in the font was to create that sense of eeriness with the highlighted glow outlining them giving it more punch.

As far the book review not included i like what you have on the original video for the completed ending, but i would change the font and close up the spaces between the letters.

Let me know where we go from here
