Sorry I've been such a stranger to this board. I've been really busy with work and my daughter whose beginning going through her terrible twos! Oh joy.

Anyways, I wanted to put up another song that I wrote, its up on youtube right now. It's called I just want to be loved. Does any one know how I can send this to Clint? I've been trying to, and my yahoo and hotmail accounts won't let me because the video sizes for the videos are too large. Any ideas?

Here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lgVvwgo1ms

Hope you enjoy.

This song sounds depressing, and I guess it's because I had a crummy day at work and I'm a single mom (not by choice). So when I come home from a bad day, I sit and cry on my bed. But you get to see me in action in this one, I mean you actually get to see me! Lol. Anyways. Enjoy, this comes from my heart.

Hi Crystal !........Excellent song !.....I could really feel the emotion in it.....You have a beautiful voice.   I was going to suggest that you post this in the "Featured Artist" thread, but I see you already did.... Grin....Great work on this.... maybe we can figure out a way to improve the production quality....I'm not an expert, but I know we would need a link to your JS track.....and then figure out a way to get a clean vocal (just the vocal without music).  After that, it would need to be mixed ......let me know if you're interested, if so, I'll see if I can get some of the experts in here to help too.... Cool

I would be so interested! All that I am using is my webcam and microphone that's built into my laptop. I can't really afford anything else at the moment. I've tried mixcraft, and audacity but my mic allows for noise that I can't really cut out, or haven't figured out how to cut out...Thanks for your comments.

Here is the mp3 of the song...as for a recording of just myself singing, not sure how I would do that without background noise...any ideas?

Hey Crystal - you got headphones? Put them on, uncover one ear to hear yourself better, and sing away Grin

Hey Crystal thanks for the mp3....I used the info in it to create a link to your Jam Studio worksheet....

http://www.jamstudio.com/Studio/FWSongShare.asp?SongNum=731273&SongId=731474

That way I can isolate each instrument if need be.......honestly though, your mix is one of the best I've heard anyone do with Jam Studio.....I'll probably just fade out the ending....lol....I'll post the new mp3 here,  then we can work on the vocals !....... Grin

I've tried that though, but you get the noise from the laundry room outside my apartment (if anyone is using it) and the buzz of air flowing from the a/c or heater, and if my daughters in the house you'll hear her toys going off or her crying or whatever. I just have a lot of background noise in my apartment and my mic picks it up.

Understandable. Here's a trick my son's voice acting friends use: put your mic into a corner and hold a blanket up around your head to create a sound shield. I know...so crazy it just might work Cheesy

So it's almost two in the morning here, and I figured why not try singing my song acapella and see what happens...well turns out that my mic is complete crap, and the only other mic I have is made for voice chatting not singing...same with the mic that's connected to the webcam. *sighs* It works great if I'm going to sing like Britney Spears and use my head voice, but when I have to hit high notes or belt out notes for a certain part of a song, it distorts it. Everyone know that you can't sing high notes without power to back them up--if you know what I'm saying. So, I'm still brainstorming on what I'm going to do. I tried singing from a distance as well, and you couldn't pick up on the verses or bridge but the high notes came in really well. I'm calling it a night though guys, I'll be on tomorrow.

Thanks for all your help and advice. Glad you like the song so well!

Grin Remember when you sing the high notes you need to back away from the Mic and them come back to it.see if that helps.also try to find that distance from the Mic that makes you sound the best and use it .

but when you come right down to it, if you record quality on crap, then what you come out with is crappy-sounding quality.
Sorry, Crystal, but it's gonna take you some research, and then some bucks.
don't get a mic you have to hold, get one with a stand, or buy a stand. Might as well go for a usb mic now, too. Unless you can also get  an analog-digital interface - more bucks. Haunt the used music stores, used  computer stores, check kijiji for used stuff. You might get lucky that way. And get a decent DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) - I can now attest to the qualities of Mixcraft5(Ask Ant, I think he can get you a bit of a deal), or get a free version and work with that.
Lots of decisions now. Good luck.

Hi Crystal !.......here's a music mix for you.....I had to change the Synth.Suspence on page 4 to Synth.Fusion......the Suspence synth was making a noise that sounded like radio static for some reason.....it even sounds like that on the JS page.....the Fusion is very close though.....also, if you don't like the lead guitar parts in this I can remove them.....You can download this mix on the box.net link and use it to do your vocals if you like it..... Hey Dave,

I love the new version of the song. I think I'll keep the lead guitar in there, it adds more flavor to it. I do have mixcraft 5, although my free version has already expired so I can't make mp3 mixes with it...is there a way I can download another demo version of this program if I uninstall it?
