started working as a Performance Assessment Representative in 2002, formerly known
as a Contracting Surveillance Representative. Since that time, I have constantly set
goals for myself that would seem to an outsider ridiculous and unrealistic. I started
working for the Federal Government in 1984 as a GS-1102-5/7/9, (Contracting Intern.)
I successfully passed each phase of training-reaching GS-9. Then on Jan 14th, 1989, my life changed. I ran into a mailbox, a telephone pole and a brickwall. I was in a semi-coma for 71 days. After a couple of years of rehabilitation, I came back to work for
the Government as a GS-2/mail cerk. I started of working in the mailroom. Then I ceame a purchasing Agent for Small Buys. Then I was promoted to a GS-7, and started doing large buys. After doing that again, I was demoted back to a GS-4, and back to the mailroom. However I still not quite, despite disappointments. I applied to Washington Bible
School and was accepted. I made a 3.4 average, and had to quit because of the distance, and cost. However, I found that I had a thirst for higher learning, and I still
Went to various institutions of higher learning despite my head injury. I went to
Harrisburg Area Community College, Duquense University, and Messiah College.  at HACC
I earned a 2.8 avg, at Duquence University a 3.4 averge, and at Messiah College a 2.8. I also was a Radio Announcer, which aided me in overcome my handicap of speaking, which was caused by the car accident. Being a radio announcer was a boost to my morale, because it showed me that there is truly me “that “I CAN’T EXCUSES” are monuments of nothingness.
Also since coming back to work I have taken several contracting courses to prepare me for getting back to the level of being an intern in the GS-1102 series. Three to be exact. But I have developed a strong desire to stay in the field of working in Public Works, i.e. Quality Control-(Janitorial Inspections) Oct 24th, 2010 I earned a promotion to a Grade of GS-7/8/9. In my present position I am responsible for the janitorial upkeep of 88 buildings. (Interior and Exterior). As part of my duties I must keep abreast of the contract, and I must also perform inspections to ensure that the contractor is abiding by the contract. In doing my job, I must constantly display leadership qualities that are necessary for successful performance on the contractor’s part. In ensuring that the buildings under my watch, are in compliance with the standards of janitorial excellence, I constantly communicate with 14 different commands that consists of 5,000 personnel.
In my Personal life I take Karate as a sport with implications of a life long endeavor.
Presently I am a Yellow Belt. In January I will test for a Green Belt. By the time I am 58 I will be a Black Belt. I am now 55.  I just like unrealistic goals I guess.

Hi Legend,

I believe life is not all about the goal but the journey. And it sounds like quite a jouney at that.  Smiley

I applaud you  Wink

yo dave h sorry about getting back to you so late. Last month I had an offer for a job as a PAR in Goose neck. But I turned it down because of this promotion. But I was tempted. Today I recieved an offer of an interview for a Contract Specialist in Jacksonville Florida. I said "what the heck" and accepted the interview process. I have to find out what the job encompasses, and it has to be more fun than this job. Take care man.
