1. Poor Man’s Postal Copyright (United States Only)
a. This is as simple as burning a cd or cd of your works, placing them in a
sealed envelope and mailing them to yourself. When they come to your
mailbox “do not open the envelope” the work inside is now effectively
dated, and since it’s a federal offense to tamper with the mail the music
inside is effectively protected and dated. So if some artist releases your
song a few years later then you can take him to court, bring the unopened
letter, and open it in front of the judge.
