Grin NO,because you need to know the BPM of the song and the time played of each page. Just fill up a page with notes and time how long the page takes to play.

You can actually gage it...believe it or not...because the tempo aka beats per minute are the same as your heartrate. So say you had a tempo of 120...welll there's four beats per measure right?

So divide 120 by 4 and what do you get? 30. We know that 4x30=120 therefore it would take 30 measures of song to fill up one minute of time...you can do this with any tempo of music weather its 66 or 100 or 151......if there's 100 beats per minute divide it by four since there's four beats per measure and you'll get how many measures you'll need for one minute of time...

A little math I know...same thing also works for measuring your heart rate for fifteen seconds just multiply the amount by four and you get how many times your heart beats a minute...cool huh? That's really how we got tempo in the first place was it was measured by the average heart rate (being andante anything between 80-100 bpm). Faster paced songs tend to get the person moving therefore the heart rate rises anywhere between 110-150. Super fast songs 180-250 bpm are really fast and are usually pretty short since the heart can only stand this rhythm for a short sustained period before you start looking at complications like fainting, enlarged heart etc. While slower paced songs 60-80 bpm are pretty calm and relaxing cause this is the normal resting rate of a human being. While anything under 60 tends to keep us on edge like were waiting for the next beat because if your heart went this slow, you would be literally on the edge of your seat waiting for the next heart beat to come.

I know I'm going to get someone to argue that this isn't right...it is. The faster tempo the is, the more measures you can cover in a minute as opposed to a slower tempo-ed piece.  And yes, the tempo of music was ticked to the beating of one's heart originally.

A music theory lesson for everybody!

You're correct about the heartrate/bpm theory, Crystal, as well as the slower/faster tempos, although there are other elements at play, such as ambience, tonality, structure, which will also have an affect upon a listener's response.

Ant, which witch craft is which?
